A Silly Proposal for The United States

This is Annie, The Queen of my sister's house.
She has nothing to do with the post.
The only picture of an idiot I have is a selfie, and I don't particularly like posting those.
She has the attitude I associate with people who have accepted that they should be in charge because they are never wrong.  It is a good attitude for a cat.

A Silly Proposal

Every four years my country goes through an election, mainly signaled through annoying adds and loud promises that I keep hearing every four years.  Sort of like that phone message that I have been getting for twenty years that my car warranty is about to expire.

I wish we had a better way of picking the person in charge of actually doing things.

There is a reason our founders called it the executive branch.  Although, more time seems to be devoted to explaining why certain things were not done as promised.  The Supreme court and Houses seem harmless enough, or at least mildly functioning.

Anyway, every four years I find myself dreaming of a better system, not that I am capable of crafting such; but, presidential elections are just irritating.

I think the problem is:  The only people who want that job seem to be the people who we don't want living in our neighborhoods.  This works well enough for legislators; but, the executive branch does not have indefinite terms, eight years tops.

My dream, and it is just a silly dream, is to somehow identify anyone who wants the job bad enough to endure an election campaign.  Then, find an island, someplace cold and miserable during winter.  Provide food, shelter, clothing. and a camera crew so we can watch them sort out who should be president.  Just put it on C-Span, no one will see it.  Does C-Span still exist?

While they are doing that, we find everyone who is capable of being president and does not want the job.  Conscript one of them to serve for four years with a threat of a second term if they don't accomplish something.  ( I mean the draft is still an option in this country, admittedly not currently in use, why can't we use it on politicians?)

Then when the Island makes a decision, like that's going to happen, we can give them excuses and delays and hang up.

It's just a dream.
