Mission Statement?

I cannot control everything.

My circle of people - they want to fight this idea.

They must be shown the truth.

They spout all sorts of reasons.

It's for your own good.

I'm just trying to help.

It is the Truth.

My way is better.

Delusions at best.

But, how?

Force, I have not right to initiate that.

A small still voice I hear.

The only path open to me.

Do not repeat the cycle.

COFFEE

I love coffee.

I appreciate artisanal coffee shops; however, I don't really go to them.  They are too upper class for my taste.  Clearly, these places are targeting upper middle class or whatever we are calling people with a little money to spare these days.

I make my coffee at home.

What I love about coffee is the scent of coffee right after I open a can of ground coffee, or when I grind beans.

(I don't have time for grinding beans every morning.)

I love the sound of a percolator working.

I love the feel of a warm cup in the morning, even when it is summer.

I love the bitterness, cut by a little sugar and creamer.

It's the ritual that works for me.  The beginning of the day, a drink that kicks you awake, and the slow cooling of the mug letting me know its time to work.

Coffee tastes like coffee to me.  Bitter.  It's not unpleasant, to me at least.

The trappings of the artisanal coffee shop do enhance the flavor of coffee and do provide "an experience" for their customers.  That experience is what coffee shops sell.

It would be a bad idea for me to open a coffee shop.  I love coffee; but, I am not a people person.  I can't give those sales pitches with a straight face.  It's just  coffee.  I love coffee, but honestly, most artisanal places oversell the product, and nothing can live up to that hype.

I would rather buy coffee from a diner that just says its coffee.

Coffee

Life without coffee would not be pleasant.

I suppose tea could replace it.

I like tea.

However, I always choose coffee in the mornings.

I have tea available.

Is coffee a habit?

or

Is it an addiction?

The data collection, some call that Science, suggests that its an addiction to caffeine.

It is hard to argue against facts.

Actually, it is impossible.

No one actually does that.

What those facts mean, well that is another story.

That is why scientists suggest possible explanations of facts.

To declare an absolute, that is the venue of priests secure in their faith.

So

Back to coffee.

Is it an addiction or habit?

Every now and then, I skip my morning coffee.

Nothing happens that suggest withdrawal.

It's a habit.

No need for a priest or scientist to declare what coffee is to me.

Why should I trust someone else to understand something so trivial?

 and

Its a matter of trust.

Not faith.

Trust in the person delivering any message or judgement.

The Scientist who works for a government, is he trusted by you?

Is it even a scientist delivering a message?

The Priest who works for an organization, is he trusted by you?

No priest works for God.  They might live for God, if they really believe.

There is a difference.

Both are representing human organizations, collectives, all working toward a common goal.

Thus

This line of thought winds down.

Coffee.

It's really good.

It's really bitter.

I don't know about you.

But, coffee makes me think.

A early pencil study of ceramic ware.
No idea about the date.
