Someone gave me some design advice, which has proven useful in many areas of life besides art.

Simplicity is the key.  Well, as you can see the above painting doesn't follow that advice. 

But, the painting works.

Advice is good, if you are willing to listen to someone else's wisdom.   You have to embrace advice, but that does not mean you should blindly follow it.  

Seriously, Life is complex and chaotic and beautiful and painful.  No single approach is going to cover everything.

Sure, most serene images are not cluttered up; but, a sunrise can be serene, even over cities where chaos and order fight for dominance.  Simplicity simply ignores chaos, not make it go away.

So, my points are: 

• Advice requires two people to work.  
• Advice is not set in stone.

Fairly simple observations.  

Nothing major or earth shattering.

It's just not a law of art.
